Reading at dusk damages the eyes

What is certain is that carrots contain beta-carotene - a precursor of vitamin A. When fat is added to the body, it can be converted into beta-carotene vitamin A, which is why beta-carotene is also known as provitamin A. This is essential to the eyes, mainly for seeing in the dark.

Apart from carrots, other fruits and vegetables also contain beta carotene. These include apricots, honeydew melons, mangoes, broccoli, tomatoes or spinach. So if you eat a healthy and varied diet, you do not risk a lack of vitamin A. Additional vitamin A supplements are superfluous, because they do not make it possible to further increase your sight.

Sitting close to the television is bad for the eyes

Sitting too close to the TV in the long term has no negative consequences for the eyesight. However, sitting too close to the TV can cause eye burns or tired eyes at times.

So that the eyes are not stressed too much, the brightness in the room should be adapted to the screen. Incidentally, if children tend to sit very close to the television, a defective vision can be the cause. You should make an appointment with your child with the ophthalmologist and have the visual acuity checked.
